The Oamaru Garrison Band |
Garrison Band is a "traditional brass band". Did you know it will turn 125 next year? If you would like to get involved, you would have to learn a brass instrument, possibly through the itinerant music teachers at Oamaru Intermediate School. Once you learn all the basics and have practiced alone, that's when you could join the Garrison Band. The Oamaru Garrison Band practices on Tuesday nights for two hours each week. They play about once every two months at all sorts of events, such as ANZAC day, Christmas Parade and other celebrations . If you ask them to perform most likely they will. You can contact them at PO Box 66, Oamaru. The instruments they play are all brass. They play traditional brass band music, like marching pieces, as well as modern pieces like Shania Twain and Michael Jackson. |
This is the Garrison Band hall where they practice. |
