Oamaru Youth Orchestra |
| |
| Have you always wanted to play in an orchestra? If so, this is for you. If you joined you would be able to listen to this wide range of instruments: violins, violas, cellos, double basses, clarinets, bassoons, trumpets, trumbones, flutes, picolos, drums, piano, triangles, oboes and the deep bass clarinet. You can see that almost any instrument is welcome to join the orchestra. At the moment there are 35 different players, but more are always welcome. The Youth Orchestra is run and conducted by the very capable Helen Beckingsale. She is, however, not the eldest in the group as the age range varies between 10 years to over 60. The Youth Orchestra practises for 1.5 hours every Tuesday of the school year at the W.G.H.S music suite. This is all made possible by money coming in from the instrument hires, members paying subs and applying to charity board trusts. Any people who are capable of reading music and playing an instrument should call (03) 434 8429 to join. |
