Tower Block Renovation Project
2004 - 2005
Queen Margaret College's Tower Block has been the centre of our school life for 135 years. The Tower Block is an integral part of Queen Margaret College's history; it now is used for offices, classrooms and the staffroom but was originally a grand house. Unfortunately the Tower Block is becoming unsafe, especially in an earthquake, and if we don’t renovate we will not be able to use it. It is going to be renovated to make it safe and usable for further generations of students to enjoy. We are not going to change the old look of the school rather giving it a face lift.
The renovations are starting before Christmas; hopefully they are only going to take two terms before they will be finished and safe again.
Our project is important to us as well as past students because it is an opportunity to present Queen Margaret College's history and the details of the renovations year 8 have been working on this project with years 2 and 3 as we realised that we need to preserve the history of the heart and soul of our school.
