                      Border Dykes
Tara Hills Station has had water dykes irrigation since 1948
Border Dykes are a flood control irrigation system.

Border Dykes require a lot of preliminary earth works - digging the races and grading the paddock to make it flat with a slight tilt.   Clocks control the flood gates.

Advantages

No manual labour involved in controlling it .

Disadvantages

Considered by many to be less efficient as it drowns the soil structure.
