OUR PROJECT

This work was completed by Room 6, twenty-nine Year 4 and Year 5 children. Our study was centred round the OAMARU PUBLIC GARDENS - a place for all. Most of the children had many personal experiences to share about their time at this parkland as young children, so we had a very good knowledge base from which to work.

Social Studies	Culture & Heritage	Demonstrate knowledge and understanding of ways in which communities reflect cultures and heritages of their people. Level 2	Identify features and give examples of how these attractions encourage tourists to the Oamaru Gardens.
Science	Living World	Explain, using information from personal observation and library research where/how a range of familiar NZ plants and animals live. Level 3	Observe and name the special features which enable plants and animals to survive in this particular environment.
English	Written Language (processing information)	Gather, select, record, interpret and present coherent structured information from a variety of sources using different technologies. Level 3	Assemble a website page following guidelines. Locate,select appropriate information for chosen research. Design a promotional pamphlet advertising this tourist attraction.
