Hikaroroa

The peak of Mount Watkins was named after Reverend James Watkin in the 1840s. It was named Hikaroroa first. Hikaroroa is west of Karitane. It is 616 metres high.

Hika means - hey! hey girl or boy

Roroa means - tall and long.
