Cultural mix

At Holy Cross School we have 26 cultures. We discovered that there were 18 different groups of cultural books in our library. There are books written in Māori, Samoan, Tongan, Cook Island Māori, Niuean, Samoan, Tongan, Niuean, Arabic, Tokelauan, Spanish and German.

We also have a large collection of books on different countries like China, India, Pacific Islands, Greece, France, Asia, Africa and other European countries.

Our library also has cultural books on lifestyles, diaries and many other things. It shows how people tell different stories of where they come from. It also shows stories that relate to the many cultures that we have at our school.

We also have books about social justice that show culture as well as stories about how people have been empowered to help their communities.

Having books about different cultures helps us to understand other people as well as making people feel welcome at our school.
