The Journey Of Palmerston Railway Station
Palmerston railway station was built in the 1870's when the main trunk line was completed in 1878.  Prior to this, trains could only travel south as far as Moeraki and Dunedin down south.
This is a picture of the Palmerston railway station in May 2007.  It is no longer a working railway station. It was closed down in 1988 by the New Zealand Government.

You can listen to an interview with the last station master, Mr Doug Anderson, carried out by the students in Room 5 Palmerston Primary School by clicking on the steam train.
