It has everything that the birds need on the island. It is also good because it is available for the public to visit. Tiritiri Matangi Island is located in the centre of the Hauraki Gulf, just off the coast of the Whangaparaoa Peninsula (also known as the Bay of the Whales). Tiritiri Matangi means "tossed by the wind". There are many different varieties of birds on the island.
