Fa’a Samoa: The Samoan Way

Research Process

First we discussed which aspects of our Samoan heritage we could write about. Then we went and wrote our own stories and talked to our families about them. We also read each others' stories and helped each other with comments and ideas.

Some students were able to bring family photographs or to take photographs themselves. We also used photographs of our Samoan team at the Poly Festival and at our Fia Fia night this year. They were taken by Miss Topless and Mrs Potter.

One of our students was able to go to Samoa to visit the market in Upolo, to take photographs and to talk to the craftspeople who were selling their jewellery.

We enjoyed taking responsibiltity for our own work and working together as a team.
