Roxburgh Dam

Did you know that the top of the dam is 132.6 metres above sea level to the top of the spillway gates? They used over 1,422,466 tonnes of concrete to build this landmark, the dam.

Over 7.26 million gallons of water pass through the dam every minute which is 435,000,000 gallons an hour or 1,980,000,000 litres per hour on annual average inflow.

Each turbine produces 56,000 horse power that turns a generator that produces 40 megawatts of power. One generator could power over 400,000 100 watt light bulbs.
