Whalan Lodge is a home for elderly people.

Old people live in Whalan Lodge because they need help from other people to do some things.

Some people go there to make friends with other people already living there.

The people have their own rooms to live in and can even eat their dinner there.

They have a dining room with lots of tables and chairs for everyone to eat.

There is a big kitchen and someone cooks their meals.

The people there like to sit and talk or watch television in the lounge.

The porch was made so the elderly people can sit outside and read or get some fresh air.

The porch has a beautiful view when people are outside resting.

The building was made out of beautiful limestone.

Whalan Lodge used to be a maternity hospital where women would go to have babies.

It was a very beautiful place to go to give birth because it had a very pretty garden to sit in.

The garden has beautiful flowers in it and the roses smell lovely.

In the garden there is a cage full of pretty birds that the elderly people can sit and watch.

There is a bath tub full of fish in the garden.
