The Honeymoon Pool
The Honeymoon Pool, also known as Te Kiri o Hinekai, is a healing pool that is a treasure to local people. It is set in the grounds of Wairakei Terraces, just north of Taupo, right beside the Wairakei geothermal field. The Year 6 ICT extension group of Wairakei Primary School have been researching the pool. Their website tells about the pool today, the pool in the past and how it is imagined the pool might be in the future. It also describes the restoration of the pool. Living Heritage is a project that encourages schools to create a website that shares and preserves the stories of their community, whānau, and friends. The projects then become part of the National Library's database of online heritage resources.
