Definition:

A Long Line is a stationary pipe which irrigates paddocks in circles.

This is a Long Line.

  • A Long Line is a pipe with a sprinkler (which is attached to a metal frame) at one end.
  • You can move it by hand or by using a ATV/four wheel motorbike.
  • It takes approximately five minutes to move a Long-Line.
  • It connects to a hydrant for its water supply just like any other form of irrigation.
  • Long Lines don't require much maintaining, just a new nozzle about every five years.
  • A Long Line lasts about 25 years.
  • It is recommended that you move Long Lines every 24 hrs in summer and every 12 hrs in autumn.
