Sister Ema and meditation

Sister Ema went to a course in 2009 led by Ruth Fowler from Australia who presented a method of meditation for children from the World Community for Christian Meditation.

In the method that Sister Ema uses, children sit in a circle. We have a candle on the floor. In the first session we talk about what we understand by ‘meditation’. We all sit with straight backs and take deep breaths. We close our eyes and we listen to a short tape. We say a prayer, and are encouraged to listen to God in our hearts, and speak to God in our own way.

At the end of the session we all share our thinking and feelings about what we experienced. The children have said that they like to use meditation to speak to God, to calm down and pray to Jesus.
