Positives and Negatives.

Here you can see a gun operating.

Positives:

  • When you are finished using the gun and the hard hose, they are all wound up into the drum so the farmer can get ready to move the gun again.
  • You can use the computer to set how fast you want the hose to travel across the paddock back to the drum. The computer also allows you to set the amount of time the gun stands before starting to travel. You can set the computer for how long you want to irrigate for.
  • It only takes between 30 and 60 minutes to set up one gun.

Negatives:

  • When the hose is full of water it weighs approximately 5 tonne so it is hard to move with your tractor.
  • If one little stone gets caught in the nozzle the irrigator just shuts down.
  • On slippery grass the gun will slide so you have to be careful when moving it around as your tractor could roll with the amount of weight you are towing.
