Behind the books

Holy Cross School - Primary

Stories of our Library

Room 1 is a class made up of year five and six students and we have been investigating the history of our school library. We wanted to find out how the library reflects who we are, our faith, history and community. The question that pulls the inquiry focus together is our classroom question, ‘How does the school library reflect the history of Holy Cross School’. Room 1 students have also written their own questions for investigation.

We are proud to be in Room 1 and have had an amazing experience because of Holy Cross School. Our first library where books were kept was in our classroom. We love having opportunities to research new things about where we belong. Our library holds more than just books. It’s a place that responds to people and how we use it means many things to different people.

For us finding out our history is about Tūrangawaewae – Our place to stand.
